Environmental Health Practitioners work in a variety of areas including food control, private sector housing, environmental protection, public health and health and safety. The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) in the UK and Environmental Health Association of Ireland have an agreement to mutually recognise Environmental Health graduates from Ireland and the UK.
