Back to business

The time has finally arrived when food premises such as bars and restaurants that have been closed since March are reopening to the public. In some cases, staff will have been counting down the days to returning to normality. Others may be starting a totally different role in your food business. Perhaps there are staff being hired for the first time to work in a food premises. As well as fulfilling your COVID 19 Return to Work Safely Protocol requirements, it is your responsibility to ensure that all staff are trained to a level of food hygiene that is appropriate to their tasks.

When reopening, proper cleaning methods and hand hygiene are vital to ensure that your staff and customers are safe while on your premises. Have you introduced new cleaning measures into your premises? They need to be included on your cleaning programme and staff assigned to them must understand completely the importance of using the right products on the right contact surfaces.

If you feel that staff need to be given refresher training, or new staff need an introduction to all aspects of food hygiene, engage the services of an online trainer. In light of COVID 19 awareness, the basics of food hygiene cannot be forgotten!

The EHAI and a number of our trainers continue to run our food safety and HACCP courses via video link or zoom during the Covid – 19 Pandemic.
